SQE1 seat reservation form for January 2027: what happens next
The seat reservation form for the January 2027 SQE1 sitting closed at 5pm on 24 September 2026. If you completed it, the SRA emails you a payment request from 19 October 2026 (10am) to 18 November 2026 (5pm). You must pay within 48 hours of receiving it or the seat is cancelled. If you did not complete it, a limited number of seats can be booked directly in your SQE account from 19 November 2026 (10am) to 23 November 2026 (5pm), subject to availability.
Checked against the SRA’s January 2027 SQE1 booking page and dates table on 7 October 2026. All times UK time. If the SRA changes a date, this page changes the same day.
If you did not complete the form
The SRA says a limited number of seats will be available to book directly through the Bookings page in your SQE account. Online booking opens at 10am on 19 November 2026 and closes at 5pm on 23 November 2026, and seats are subject to availability. Candidates with reasonable adjustments must not book this way; the SRA says they must complete the reasonable adjustment section of the pre-booking steps. The SRA’s booking page does not say how a candidate who needs adjustments and missed the 24 September 2026 deadline can then obtain a seat for this sitting. Our advice, which is ours and not the SRA’s, is to contact the SRA about your adjustments as soon as possible and not to wait for direct booking to open.
Complete the pre-booking steps before direct booking opens:
- Your SQE account exists and your ID is verified. Registration and ID verification must be finished before you can book.
- The diversity survey is complete. If you completed the diversity survey before, the SRA says it has been updated: you must go back to it, reconfirm your answers and complete the new section at the end, or you cannot book your next assessment.
- The reasonable adjustments question is answered. The deadline to complete the form and accept adjustments was 24 September 2026.
- You know which email address is registered to your SQE account. The SRA writes to that address, not to any other.
