Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data Lawdojo collects, why, who we share it with, and the rights you have under UK data protection law. Lawdojo is an independent SQE1 preparation service operated by Janus Compliance Limited, the data controller — registered in England and Wales (company no. 16583861), registered office 167-169 Great Portland Street, London, W1W 5PF. What we collect

• Account: your email address (for passwordless sign-in by magic link or Google), and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile basics from Google.
• Study data: the questions you answer, your answers and scores, coverage, and your conversations with the AI tutor — so we can run the trainer, show your progress, and improve the questions.
• Payment: if you buy access, the payment is processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details — we store only a Stripe customer reference and your access status/expiry.
• Usage & technical: basic analytics events (such as which question was viewed and the referring site) and your IP address, used to run the service, prevent abuse, and meter usage.

Why we use it (legal bases)

• To provide the service you asked for — your account, your practice, your progress, and any purchase (performance of a contract).
• Security and anti-abuse — rate-limiting, fraud and cost protection (legitimate interests).
• Improving the product — reviewing questions and tutor answers for accuracy and quality (legitimate interests).

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted processors to run the service:

• Supabase — database and authentication.
• Stripe — payment processing.
• Resend — sending sign-in and account emails.
• Anthropic — powering the AI tutor (your tutor messages are sent to Anthropic to generate a reply).
• Vercel — hosting and privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and study data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards, then delete or anonymise it. You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time (see your rights below).

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, or provide it in a portable form. Email michaelo@januscompliance.co.uk and we will action it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the date above.
