What you get on results day
- A result for each paper. FLK1 and FLK2 each have their own pass mark, and you must pass both to pass SQE1.
- A pass mark set for that sitting. The SRA’s assessment board sets each FLK’s mark using statistical equating, so the standard stays constant even when the paper’s difficulty varies. There is no fixed percentage to aim at.
- Quintiles. Your result shows which fifth of the cohort you fell in — useful context beyond pass/fail.
- The cohort pass rate. The SRA publishes it alongside results — the moment it lands, it joins our complete pass-rate dataset, which updates the same day.
The seven-week wait — what’s actually worth doing
Nothing you do now changes the July result. Two things are still worth your time. First: rest — you have just sat one of the broadest legal exams in the world. Second, and only if you are honest with yourself about being borderline: keep a light touch on the material. The January 2027 sitting is 18 weeks after results day, and candidates who restart from cold in September consistently report the ramp-up is the hardest part. A few questions a week keeps the machinery warm without turning your summer into a second prep season.
If you want to know where you actually stand instead of replaying the exam in your head, our free 25-question diagnostic maps your position across all 137 SQE1 topics — no card, one tap.

Common questions
When do the July 2026 SQE1 results come out?
On 8 September 2026 — confirmed on the SRA’s official assessment-dates page. That is about seven weeks after the FLK2 window closed on 24 July 2026.
How are SQE1 results reported?
You get a result for each paper. FLK1 and FLK2 each have their own pass mark, set for each sitting by the SRA’s assessment board using statistical equating, so the mark needed reflects that paper’s difficulty against a constant competence standard. Results also show quintiles — which fifth of the cohort your performance fell in. You must pass both FLKs to pass SQE1.
What is the SQE1 pass mark?
There is no fixed pass mark. Each FLK’s pass mark is set per sitting against a consistent standard, which is why it is not published in advance and varies between sittings.
What happens if I fail SQE1?
You can attempt each SQE assessment up to three times within six years, paying the full fee each time. The next SQE1 sitting after July 2026 is January 2027: FLK1 runs 11–15 January and FLK2 runs 18–22 January 2027 (booking details TBC on the SRA site as of July 2026).
When are the January 2027 SQE1 dates?
FLK1: 11–15 January 2027. FLK2: 18–22 January 2027. The SRA lists booking arrangements as TBC; results dates for January 2027 have not been announced yet.
